Flo Says Sister Was His Inspiration For Music
In a Billboard article and interview, Flo Rida talks about how it was actually his sister that give him the drive to take on the music industry.
”One of my sisters passed away and that gave me the drive to work harder to try to make it,” says 25-year-old Rida, born Tramar Dillard. “You’re never promised tomorrow, so I decided to take full advantage.”
Starting off at age 15 with Luke Skywalker from 2 Live Crew, Flo Rida started hanging out behind the scenes at events and concerts. He was able to get a taste of the music biz long before he would actually take the stage himself.

Flo Rida Still Trying to Break Into the Mainstream
T-Pain continues his dominance of the charts with Flo Rida’s Low, now holding #6 spot, along with other T-Pain tracks at #1, 7, and 8 positions.
Here is an interesting review of the upcoming album from Flo Rida, though I’ll admit its a little harsh on him:
To my ears, “Low” sounds like Southern club-rap with every last sliver of regional eccentricity carefully bleached out. But maybe that’s an unnecessarily harsh judgment.
Here is another review as well:
With all those sales (131,000 downloads last week alone), “Low” probably would’ve landed at an even higher Hot 100 rung if its radio airplay weren’t still so modest. It’s increasing in spins, but still just scraping the top 40 most-played songs at radio
Climbing the Billboard Hot 100 - Low Jumps 60 Spots
Low, which features T-Pain and Flo Rida together for the first time, jumped nearly 60 spots on the Hot 100 lists to the top 10 songs in the country.
Selling nearly 131,000 copies of the single in the first week, Low is an amazing success right out of the gate. Featured last week on the iTunes download store for the first time, its almost instant climb to the top 10 makes it one of the most successful tracks in iTunes history.
With the success of this Flo Rida track T-Pain now has 4 tracks that he is the headliner or supported in the top 25 songs in the country. The only other person to do that in recent history was 50 Cent several years back.
